"New Posts" question

Is there anyway to unselect forums so that their messages are not displayed when selecting "New Posts?" For example, if I'm in a hurry to scan the board, I'd sure like to hit "New Posts" and filter out all the "Introduction & Greets" posts, etc. I can always go back to those later through the forums if I wish.
