Hi all,

I'm a recently qualified PADI OW cert holder, based in Perth, Western Australia. I've been lurking around SB for a few months and have found it a goldmine of information and advice, so cheers!

I've been interested in diving since I was a kid, growing up in the Midlands, UK. Had some scuba experience as a teenager, qualified as an Air Diver in the Military over 25 years ago, (diving upside down twinsets, full-face masks and zero gauges) - Left the military and that was it, no more diving or interest in it really. Nearly did an OW course in Stoney Cove, Leicester in January 2015ish, but the thought of the cold made me feel like I was getting back into military diving, cold sore hands etc... We've recently relocated to Western Australia and the Indian Ocean (and temperature) as rekindled my interest in it.

Happy New Year

I would say that you're a lot more than a recently qualified PADI OW diver!

I'll be in Australia in February doing the Yongala which is a bucket list item for me as I make my way around the world diving top wrecks.

Welcome to SB! I don't know much about the diving on the west coast, but I believe you have relatively easy flights to Indonesia--some of the best diving in the world.

Thank you, confident and comfortable in the water is an absolute yes, but hand signals, buddies, AAS/occys is all pretty fresh! Although it is nice to dive with over 1m viz, and I recently learned that I don't actually have to get wet if the conditions are garbage :p
