Hello all,
Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I am a new-ish member here. I joined back in 2023 right around the time I finished my open water scuba cert! Here in Virginia there is a nice place called Lake Phoenix that is where a lot of scuba divers and free divers go to get their open water certifications. Decent temperatures in the summer where a 5mm wetsuit is just right. They have an underwater basket ball hoop with some bowling balls, a small underwater plane to check out, a skidoo, small boats, and many other underwater sights to discover as you dive. It was a great first open water dive experience.

That place used to be called Lake Rawlings. The people that worked there were the rudest and nastiest individuals on the face of the planet. I rented a tank that was 2/3 full and when I pointed it out I got such an attitude from the guy.

When I went to leave a bad review, I realized I was in good company. They just didn't care. Unfortunately those bad reviews carried over to the new buyers even though there was a name change.

New ownership is much better as I understand it, but it doesn't change that you're basically diving in a flooded pit with a few small attractions separated by a rope, and you're diving in poor vis and cold water.

Still better than a great day of work I suppose

Nah, my limestone verandah collapsed so stage one was to lift and support with fireplace flue filled with concrete

But really if I ever got the chance to dive Lake Phoenix and got to check out all the cool stuff I would have a blast

Thanks for your post @Crystal_vixen from Virginia, enjoy your diving and enjoy everyones ScubaBoard
