Hello everyone! I am a new member. I am on the back side of my retirement and thinking of going pro. I have about 70 dives and some of the basic classes. I am a firefighter and emergency medical Technician. I do have dive rescue from the early 90's any body have any suggestions this would be great. I am looking in to classes as soon as it warms up.

duallines welcome to the Board. . . What are you going pro as? If you want to go pro as a rescuer, I don't know if there is any place that will pay you to rescue. If you want to work as an instructor, you are far away from the experience to put you in an instructor position, my opinion is 700 dives is not enough experience to instruct (there are some instructor cards for sale without much dive experience). Within reach, but not always a paying circumstance is "dive master". . . Again, a lot more experience will make you a better dive master candidate.

Perhaps, working toward that experience, you can work along side a dive shop, or dive boat. That would quickly gain the experience that would later on offer a career path.

But to use this board, and to read lots of other opinions, go to the top of every page on the board, click on the "Forums" button and hang on for the ride. . . A long list of topics about diving will open up. Scroll down that list, and read about dive training, dive equipment, dive travel, everything you can do underwater.

I hope I haven't offended you, and I hope you will consider what you can offer other divers, after your 70 dives turn into 500 dives, and better when it turns into 700 dives. You will be a better diver after that much experience. And your EMT status will be very active whenever you are around the water, and the people that get themselves into trouble "trying to have fun".

Welcome to the ScubaBoard! Go Pro! You'll be glad you did, if you like interacting with people.
