Hi everyone, I got my certification 3 years ago after diving a few times on vacation, however have only logged 4 dives after receiving it (on vacation a year after my certification) and that has been some time ago. Recently i decided to change this, i have a friend who has a similar story as mine and was planning to start diving with him on Jocassee to build up some experience and get myself refreshed, however he fell through so I'm proceeding on my own.

I'm thinking it may be best to accompany an open water class for my first "re-dive", i haven't forgotten how to dive i just feel that it could be better to knock the rust off in a environment of similarly skilled divers  haha. Also seeing as im buddyless this will give me a chance to meet some people (hopefully these forums will too :D).

Looking forward to getting back in the water, learning from you guys, and hopefully meeting some people to dive with.

Hi, and welcome! :wavey:

If you contact dive shops in the area, you are sure to find someone that will do a refresher with you. Perhaps even let you hang with an open water class.

If you notice, there are threads that are 'stuck' to the top. One of them is http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/ne...ng/287780-how-find-excellent-scuba-class.html. I hope you have lots of fun doing some research, and just chatting with new acquaintances . . . :)

I agree with Jax. Check your LDS and take ya a refresher class. They can also hook ya up with where they go for local dives. I too took a 3 year hiatus from diving too, and just recently got into the diving world again this year. I know you can do some diving in Lake Murray, down in Columbia SC. But before you jump back into the water ensure that you have taken the refresher course and also have your equipment inspected by your LDS. I live in Charlotte, and may be able to meet ya for a dive sometime if you can't find some one to go with ya.

The LDS here is great, its where i was originally certified, and yes i plan on doing a refresher just for good measure. Also Seeing as there are boats every weekend at Jocassee i could always sign up for one of them and meet some people to dive with, was very curious, however to see if there were any groups that dive through the week as my schedule, at least at the present, is wide open.
