Hi, I'm new to scuba and have many questions. Curiously, during my many online searches for insights and answers, this board has stood tall. I've enjoyed reading thru the thoughtful questions and answers/suggestions offered so freely. While I don't really feel any obligation to join yet another membership, I can already tell this one is special. I look forward to gleaning even more sage advice from the clearly knowledgable and experienced members here.... Now off to bed as an early alarm beckons me too soon.

Welcome to the Board. Do let us know if you dive locally in AK. Must be Starting to get light up there now....

Hi TM and Eric,

Thanks for the warm greetings. SB is a great place to hang out and absorb; it's a respite from the crazy dopamine drip of FB or X... perhaps a bit like methadone for a heroin addict.

As for AK, once I got certified I learned that AK is a diver's destination, especially Prince William Sound. I'm starting a local diving group and have found a lot of peeps interested in plugging in. By word of mouth, I've already got over 30 who want to be involved. I've got a highly competent rec and tec diving instructor who will be our instructor for certs and guide for OW. I'll let you know how it goes... start w/ pool work in March.

Best to you!

Welcome to scuba board. Looks like you're already finding the dive community here in AK - it's small but thriving

Welcome! It seems like AK has a population of hearty divers.

Welcome. Alaska diving can be challenging but it is all pretty good but you got to be creative with transport and travel. Lots of good and friendly people.
