Hello All...Starting a new adventure in my life. My only son is off to college in September and my wife and I are beginning to think about planning vacations for a couple instead of a family.

In that regard we'd like to take our first live-aboard trip and I am thinking about the Cuan Law in the BVIs. In order to induce my wife to go, I had to promise her that the Cuan Law was the most "luxurious" of Carib. live aboards....The gal likes her amenities and I don't think she would be happy on a Blackbeard's type trip.

She is still a newbie 50+/- dives, all in Grand Cayman, and Turks and Caicos and is a bit nervous...she's come a long way...but still like a bit of hand-holding until she gets comfortable.

Does anyone have any personal experience on the Cuan Law to report...Do you think it's the right boat for a first live-aboard experience..

Thanks everyone

Mark

The Cuan Law is the perfect liveaboard for beginners and it's also great for more experienced divers. I've been on a few liveaboards (aggressor, Nautilus) etc., and the Cuan Law was just as good or better. Very relaxed atmosphere and very safe. It's been two or three years since I was on that boat but the Divemaster (hot blond girl) and the Captian made the trip very enjoyable for all.

Thanks...I'll forward this to my wife. She'll be glad to hear your opinion...Mark

The only problem with the Cuan Law is that she will be spoiled for all other livaboards! I've been on 1/2 a dozen liveaboards and Cuan Law was by far the nicest as far as accommodations, spacious rooms, food, etc.

This is also what makes it perfect for a novice. The Cuan Law doesn't offer "guerilla diving" as in dive til you drop. Instead, you're pretty limited to three dives a day...but that was enough for me personally. I enjoyed the top side scenery and the sailing almost as much as the diving in fact.

Gearing up and loading the pangas/zodiacs is also very easy. This will be a good choice.

The diving in BVI is very easy and pretty, perfect for a beginner/intermediate diver.

Thanks Christi...I'll be sure my wife sees your note...And yes, we have booked our trip. I just hope they sign up enough people to actually have the trip. They suggest I hold off on making our air arrangements until at least 8 people have booked.

Regards
Mark

When are you planning on going?

We are booked on the Cuan Law for the week of 7-22 thru 7-28. When are you going?

We have dived in the BVI before (although not from the Cuan Law), your wife will love it.

Cuan Law was my first liveaboard, and it was a great first liveaboard experience. Very roomy dive deck and cabins, easy dive conditions for the most part. If you are looking to go in December, you have plenty of time for others to book, I think it's pretty rare that a trip doesn't fill to the minimum. Congrats on the "new life", my first child is due this summer, so I guess I get a "new life" too!

Be careful with hurricanes @ that time of year.......keep one eye on the Weather Channel starting about the beginning of July.......ought to be great, other wise......
