Hello everyone i am new to this site and I thought i would give a quick spiel. My primary dive motivation/passion is caving.I recieved training in the duct tape era via William Dooley at ginnie.I completed apprentice nss training but due to a family difficulty I had to get out.I am now in the process of starting over older and perhaps wiser?I also recieved nitrox training via IANTD when nitrox was considered evil lol.My eventual goal is full cave/sidemount specialist as this is applicable to canadian caves ie marble, leopard frog, pembroke and the west coast karst. My how things have changed but stayed the same!I am a past member of theNSS_CDS and I have just renewed again. The caves i have dove in would be little river.telford, cow, ginnie(all)peacock and i miss them dearly! well thats me in a nutshell and Thanks for this site as everyone seems to have good intentions and lol BTW I dive atx50 and Odins

how is the Detroit River?? that is a good question.
Actually the Detroit River is for the most part awful to dive with an average of 0-5 foot vis, but this time of the year and early spring you can get up to 15-30 foot vis. The good is that there is 300+ years of history on the river and you can run into some serious goodies from as far back as the when the Indians ran the land to more recent times of the Rum Runners who would run whiskey from our Hiram Walker plant here on the River over to Detroit. So you got to be in the right place in the river to find some good goodies:wink:

Thanks for the warm welcome people-it is much appreciated!Rooster thanks for the heads up on the Detroit river-I found the Snae channel to be the same.We dive the niagara river and the St.Lawrence whenever we can and bottle collecting has been productive-especially the 1000 islands around the eye of the needle and Morrisburg. The St Clair was great to dive{especially the current}but bottles were few and far between. As for bad vis-try the Hamilton harbour sometime if you like braille diving-unfortunately legislation put a damper on recovery diving but we lifted a suzuki Katana out of the lift bridge canal and legally recovered it as well a 200hp stern drive? Dive safe!

great to have you at our underwater BBQ. I love caving myself, and wrecks. Hope it all goes well for you in your training.
