EXPLORER VENTURES’ NEWEST VESSEL, THE M/V TIBURON EXPLORER, IS ABOUT TO SET SAIL FOR GALAPAGOS!

Press Release: August 24, 2020

Tiburon Explorer on its final fit-out at the Ecuador shipyard.

Explorer Ventures is thrilled to announce that M/V Tiburon Explorer, the newest and most spacious liveaboard diving vessel in the Galapagos, was launched on August 7th, 2020. She is currently undergoing sea trials and final fit-out for her first charter in Galapagos Islands, which is scheduled for September 19th, 2020.

Designed to be the premier liveaboard in Galapagos, Tiburon Explorer began construction in June 2019 and follows the proven hull design and machinery specifications of Humboldt Explorer and other Explorer Ventures’ liveaboards. More so, she has been redesigned with a double-hull in critical areas, redundant power systems, a reworked diving deck, state-of-the-art onboard communications, and a modern fire control system. Although construction was delayed due to the shipyard’s earlier Covid-19 closure which limited the number of workers to allow for social distancing, she’ll enter service around the same time Ecuador and the Galapagos open for tourism. We couldn’t be more excited!

Each of the 9 air-conditioned staterooms has grand ocean views and large private bathrooms. The regal main salon accommodates all guests for lounging, photo and movie viewing, and dining, with locally inspired meals prepared by a first-class chef. A large sundeck covers most of her 125-foot (38-meter) length and includes a covered lounge, sunning area, hot tub, and bar. Carrying a maximum of 16 passengers she is spacious with plenty of room to socialize, socially distanced. The vessel will depart from and return to Baltra and spend 3 full days experiencing the big-animal action at the world-renowned Wolf and Darwin Islands. Tiburon Explorer will also visit Cabo Douglas, Punta Vicente Roca, and Cousins Rock where divers will have a chance to see marine iguanas, mola, and sea lions, plus more of the bucket list marine life for which Galapagos Islands are known.

Just got off the Tiburon and will give it big thumbs up. We and everyone we talked with said it was far above other live aboard boats done in the past. Many superlatives, which they worked to earn.

The crew is very attentive to the guests needs. Great meals each day. Jennifer who coordinates things was a great help. I will also plug Dom at Dive Advice who we did our booking with as well.
