Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself properly.
My name’s
Shawn Murphy, and for the past 10 years I’ve been chasing light underwater—guiding dives, shooting deep inside Mexico’s cenotes, and trying to turn those fleeting moments into images that actually
feel like being there.
I’m based in Playa del Carmen, and my focus is mostly on creative photography in overhead environments—caves, caverns, reefs, wrecks. Recently, I published my first book:
Liquid Light: An Underwater Photographer’s Guide to the Cenotes of the Riviera Maya.
It’s been an unreal journey… and a huge part of it has been learning from other divers (including some of the conversations right here on ScubaBoard over the years).
