Hello everyone, I don't dive but my husband is just getting started. On our recent trip to Riviera Maya he completed his 1st certification. I joined so I can gather info on what camera I can get him for his bday.

It might help to hear a little more about what level of interest your husband would have and a rough budget. Those factors vary widely among people and will affect the advice you get.

Very true!

Do you folks currently have a camera? Perhaps an underwater housing is all you need to add.

Learning to dive, learning to operate an unfamiliar camera, learning to use that camera underwater, and learning to take photographs underwater all at once can be a bit "challenging". Using a camera one is familiar with removes one of those "challenges". Of course that also depends on the level of interest that t-mac mentioned.
