Hello everyone from Washington state!

My wife and I were certified last year in Washington prior to our wedding and honeymoon in Hawaii. We had done some intro dives, and resort/cert dives the past few years, and finally decided we were going to be "real" divers. We got certified in October in Puget Sound/Hood Canal with Thunder Reef Divers from Vancouver, WA. We made about 25 dives all over the big island on our honeymoon, shore diving on our own and boat dives with Jacks Diving Locker and Pacific Rim Divers out of Kona. We had a great time, and saw a lot for our first adventure. We probably won't dive much cold water diving here in Washington(None for my cold blooded wife:shakehead:), and plan to do most of our diving on vacation in warm water locales.

Look forward to meeting new people and getting some good info from all of you.

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome to diving, and to :sblogo:, Mark!

You really ought to give our cold water diving a bit of a chance, though. There is a lot of fascinating life in Puget Sound and up in the San Juans, and we are blessed with easy conditions for diving most of the year (as long as you are patient with the viz). And the best part is that local diving is inexpensive and keeps you in good practice for those tropical trips!

I would love to dive more here, but unfortunately my only dive buddy at this point is my cold blooded little wife who vowed never again! I could hook up with some people from our shop that certified us, and I'm sure meet some people to dive with here. I have mostly warm water gear, but my BC is capable of cold water diving, I would just rent some exposure gear for cold water. Really would like to try the dry suit vs the walrus suit and gear we were certified with! Going to Kona again in October.....can't wait!! I wouldn't mind a Puget Sound trip this summer to brush up again though, just need someone to go with.
