Hi from San Francisco California,

I just returned from diving in SE Asia and found this site. So many people with so much experience - I have already learned soooo much! Thanks to you all!

Now, would love to find friends for local play and perhaps exotic travel I have done 63 dives, all in warm water (Indonesia/Malaysia) and should have my own gear before too long.

Returned to university, and for now: tons of vacation but not alot of $! So usually go backpacker budget accommodations sticking with good dive shops.

If anyone's interested in a dive partner,

Would love to jet down to Catalina for a dive weekend if there is some way to do it without spending a fortune. (I've heard the kelp is beautiful)

Thinking about a dive trip over thanksgiving week 11//22-11/30 - maybe a cheap camping road trip to Baja or perhaps a short trip to the Fla Keys (my family lives 45 minutes from Key Largo)?

Also thinking about sending a month over Christmas in Honduras.

And probably 2.5 months next summer back in SE Asia (maybe a DM course)

Maybe some of you can give reason for dipping into this frigid-poor-vis no cal water:(???

Looking forward to meeting new friends!

Kathy

Hi Dave & all,

Thanks for the welcome!

Dave, I lived in So Cal for 17 years before moving north and yes I do long to experience the beauty of kelp forests before the water cools too much . Like maybe in 2-3 weeks.

Do you know of any inexpensive places to stay in Catalina? Found a campground close to Avalon but it seems to be booked forever.

The diving cost is no problem, just want to avoid too many of the other expenses - any ideas or dive shop recommendations?

Thanks!
