Just saying hi. I just got certified on September 19th. Went to Mermet Springs for the DUI Rally. Pretty excited! Can't wait to make it out to the big blue. Maybe in the spring.

Hi, i`m also a newbie in this diving world... just droping by to say hello and browsing (to lazy to open a thread :p)

Grats on the certification guys! very exciting. I got cert'd in 1984 at SIU-C.

Soltari, I dove Mermet yesterday and dive there very often, kinda like to help in any way I can out there. Great people at Mermet, thanks to St. Glen ;-) . Also planning a trip to some blue water in the spring, if you're ever at Mermet on a thursday, chances are pretty good I'll be around. Always happy to trade dive stories.

Hey, welcome. I was at SIU-C for three semesters in Aviation Flight Tech in the late 70's. Schneider tower resident the first two. Got any plans for halloween? :-)

Never went diving around there, though. Hope you find some good spots.

Haha, Deus, halloween as we knew it is no more....if I could only actually remember some of those......oh well, I remember how they started anyhow ;-)

my bro was in Aviation from '79-'82 and now flies for US Air. i got there in '83 and started diving right away. best spot so far (by far) locally is Mermet. i've been diving in Little Grassy and Lake of Egypt (sssshhh, est striktley verbotten) and a few old quarries in the area, but nothing beats Mermet for local dives.

Thank you for the welcome! :) I live about 4 hours away from Mermet, so it's a weekend thing and only occasional. Though I think the shop is planning another trip out that way next month I hope to tag along on. I've done a few more dives since. Can't get enough of it. Looking like April for a Florida trip.
