Greetings from Belleville, IL. Just wanted to take a second and introduce myself before I started poking around the forums. My fiance and I just got back from our first dive trip as newly minted open water divers. We did our PADI classes and pool work here, and finished with our certification dives in Panama City Beach, Florida. After only 7 dives, and 181 minutes of bottom time, I can say with certainty that I will be a dedicated diver for the rest of my time on this planet.

A few notes and shout-outs:

- While my future wife enjoyed diving, I have a feeling that her aversion to cold water will keep her centered on diving solely on vacation.
- I plan on advancing my training to include, at least, U/W Photography, Night Diving, Peak Buoyancy, and eventually Dive Master.
- Scuba World gets a huge Thank You for making us divers in a stress-free and fun environment.
- A special Thank You to Shawn and Kara. For teaching, coaching, cheerleading, and just being awesome folks.
- Vortex Spring in Ponce De Leon, FL. Gin-clear, 68*F water with no thermocline, freshwater eel and blue gill.
- Panama City Dive Center rocks. Captain Ramsey and Dive Master J.B. were knowledgeable and super accommodating.
- Octopus, frog fish, a huge goliath grouper, and more. Bridgespan #14 and "The Red Sea" were by far my favorites.

I never knew how much I loved the ocean until I got my first look beneath it's surface.

If anyone has any tips on gearing up without going hog-wild and breaking the bank, I would greatly appreciate the insight. I know I need a computer, first.

Looking forward to getting the most out of my new passion,

Trixis
