Welcome. You'll find the experience a little different up here with the need for more exposure protection (cold water) and thus more weight. And I'd recommend a dive or two with w buddy with lots of cold water experience. But there's great diving, especially Kingston and lots of buddies available, so be sure to give it a try and not wait till you go South again.

Diving in Brampton?
Not impossible but limited.
Usually Happy Divers organize a clean up of Professors Lake in early May. I did it a couple years ago and in all honesty it wasn’t very good. Vis was about 3ft and very little to see. Never the less my buddy and I will dive it again maybe not this year but in the future if they clean the Lake up again.
I think the same group also organized a clean up in Norton Park a couple of years ago.
I think if you continue to watch this site others will give you lots of ideas on where to dive in the area, but be prepared to travel at least a couple of hours for the really good dives.
All the best in your new sport. You’ll love it.

I grew up in Bramalea in 1959-1975 and there used to be a quarry that filled with water (hit a spring) right beside the Legion Hall at Queen Street and Dixie Rd. I see that it is now a park area . There used to be alot trucks and other construction gear that was left in the pit when it flooded. Back then it was called Chassel's Pits. I wonder if it is permitted to dive there. I know its about 80 feet deep. Just a thought.

Come on now, the guys looking to go diving not clean up crap from some smelly shore line to promote some dive shops PADI program. You have many choices from 1000 islands/Kingston Ont to all over the great lake even local Lake Ontario has some good dive sites.

Britanic

Easy big fella. Your post is one way to look at it, others find it an opportunity to get wet in the open water early in the season with out the drive. There is not a smell and very little crap. I took the original post as the new diver was looking for a place to dive in Brampton. I’m sure the poster is bright enough to figure out that the province is full of good opportunities. After all you were able to figure it out Britanic.
