Greetings!

I just completed my sixth dive last night (and it was my first night dive)! I'm a 2L law student in Grand Rapids, MI and I've been accepted to the travel abroad program to Australia and New Zealand in the spring of 2011.

I started diving so that I would be prepared when I go down under because I'll have the chance to dive some of the best locations on earth. I'm spending 7 weeks in Melbourne AU, followed by 11 in Christchurch NZ, after which I'll get to spend 3 weeks between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

I've purchased some decent entry level gear; mostly Cressi equipment and some Atomic splitfins. The flights to Singapore limit my baggage to 20 kilos, so most of my weight will be allocated to my scuba gear. I'd also like to find a simple camera setup to take with me so I can document my recreational dives.

Any recommendations you have for must-see dive sites, gear, travel tips, destinations, reputable dive shops, etc would be much appreciated, and I'd also be interested in finding dive buddies to go with if you are gonna be in any of these places the same time I am. I plan on diving quite a bit while I'm there, at a minimum 2-3 dives every other week (and I'll happily go more if I find a good buddy to go with). I'm interested in just about anything too: night diving, wrecks, open water, photography, boat/shore entry...

After just six logged dives in the past couple weeks, I know I'm hooked and I can't wait to dive in a place with warm water/more than 6 feet visibility! Feel free and say hi if you'd like, or comment on any of the above :)
