Bacchus...an answer to your recent question!

It's great to be able to change lenses underwater, I've been doing it since starting with an MX-10 but since going digital, I haven't been able to find a lens caddy that would work. Putting the lens in a pocket or pouch just didn't seem safe or convenient. Well...look what I found!

The Digital Lens Dock I've only used my wide angle lens on one trip and although it proved to be very versatile, I did miss shots because with nowhere to put my lens if I removed it, I left it on the whole dive. I've been looking for some way keep it safe yet handy to use. I believe this is it... I've got one on the way as we speak! I have been using gbundersea's Save-A-Lens kits for years so I am very confident of the quality of this new product.

Here's a picture of it from the website...

According to the website, the Dock will hold any 67mm lens and will fit on a variety of housings and strobe arms. I really like the position of it on the PT-10, looks like it will be out of the way yet secure. As soon as I get it, I'll let ya know how well it works!

If it's the same one, and it sounds like it....

It's only desined to fit trays or handles with that specific thread hole. I don't have any holes for it to fit into! Much less in an area that it won't be in the way.

The lens has to be manually threaded into the caddy. I don't know about everyone else, but I don't always have the time or inclination to stop in my tracks and carefully thread the lens into a holder. Not to mention any sand or debris could really bugger up those tiny threads, especially since it's made of metal.

And what if, during that precise threading operation, I happen to drop that expensive lens? It's gone.

With the Digital Lens Holder, it's a one handed operation. There's no threads to match up, the lens is held by gripping of the barrel. The material it's made of is unbreakable but gentle on delicate threads. And with the cable attached, I don't have to worry about dropping it.

Sorry...I'll spend the extra $18 for a more versatile and secure way to carry and use my lenses!

I'm with Dee. I'd rather spend the extra $18.00 for a more versatile and secure way to carry and use the lens. I also think it'll be ackward to thread the lens back to the mount if you're wearing thick gloves.

I may have to add that one to the Christmas List!!!!!

Now .... to figure out how to mount it to the Ikelite housing????

But just as I was thinking that I was done spending $$. At least this is useful and necessary! I'll email Greg and get one sent ASAP in time for the trip next week. Thanks again for the research and help!
