I heard on the Paul Harvey News Thursday noon show (http://www.paulharvey.com/) that the International Maritime Organization was moving as fast as they could to protect a newly discovered reef in the Caribbean. According to the news report (at about the 6 minute, 30 second mark) this reef was described as a underwater mountain, 3rd largest of all atolls, enormously active reef with 200 species of fish...150 of which had been unknown.

When I went to the IMO site...I couldn't find news that was very current. CDNN didn't have anything to offer either.

So...in the best spirit of rumor control...does anybody have more info on this discovery?

I was able to use your link to track down quite a bit of info on the Saba Bank Atoll. As opposed to a new discovery, the atoll was identified some time ago but the conservation of the reef has raised significant attention. A very informational article on this topic is available at http://www.mina.vomil.an/welcome/news_events/news.php

I've tracked down some of the dive shops that can get folks to the atoll...pretty inviting.
