I haven't posted on SB in some time but while exercising this morning, thought of an idea to post this to the scuba search and rescue community.

So I found this guy, Gilles Essiembre, who has a company out of Canada called O2 Max. He founded the company after "curing" his best friend's asthma with a 4-step process using a bag, an oximeter, a treadmill and a spirometer. He then worked with a former IDF Commander who hired him to train his lungs and CV system. He then visited the Garden of the Gods in Cuba and raved about the diving. The guy then told us that he had massive bottom time and was extending his time on his nitrox tanks and coming up with way more air than the DMs. He said the shore diving he did was the best he'd ever done because...his breathing was slower, he had more lung volume and had greater CO2 tolerance. He told me it was a game changer for divers.

I'm on his protocol and have increased my lung volume by 1.25 Liters. He has done this for NHL players, UFC fighters, boxers, climbers, swimmers and now divers.

This is a game changer for those who love the water or make their living in search and rescue. I met an FBI Hostage Rescue Team member today at the pool and gave him Gilles' info. They are amped to get on his protocol. He can do virtual training as he uses the aforementioned gear that he will send you. The training is common sense and only requires 15 minutes of training 3 times a week and 20 minutes of treadmill time once a week with his bag for 6 weeks. It runs $1250 for the program. He will also come train a group if it's large enough and can reduce the cost to $800 per diver if the group is large enough.. The guy is the GURU of breath maximization. This is not aerofit or any of those cheap ineffective gadgets...this is professional respiratory therapist level training. It will blow your mind at its effectiveness.

No it is not DL. It involves bag training, weekly lung exercises and one weekly altitude session with the same bag plus an initial spirometer reading and then another test at week 6. He provided videos and weekly calls and answered calls when they arose. Not a scam in the least bit. I'm a diver who hits the Caribbean all the time. I'm heading to Jamaica in April, I can't wait to see how this affects my BT. he runs this company out of Moncton, NB. He's a lifelong athlete who invented the protocol to help his buddy with severe asthma. he's a great dude for inventing this

While I am sure that working on your breathing patterns will help you out to a degree, it won't matter much if you also don't work on your buoyancy skill and efficiency of movements. Being still and moving slowly make a massive difference in air consumption.

Didn't see the brochure, sorry! Didn't know what you meant by bag either, now I get it. Sounds great, not for me, sorry. I need to save my money to afford a tropical dive trip, lol

It literally increased my physical lung volume. I can last an hour w nitrox already

Or you check Win Wolf for free on you tube and you save 1250$ to buy scuba gear.

That's a shame, since larger breaths deplete your tank faster, all else being equal. This is not the market you're looking for...
Well the IDF commander I spoke with thought the same thing and it did the opposite as boosting one's VO2 Max, which this program does, brings more oxygen to the body, made him more CO2 tolerant, and slowed his respiration down to half. That's where the consumption slowed down to. To each his own but this guy is going to be featured on The Breathing Advantage podcast and the biggest Canadian radio show tomorrow.
