Hello folks,

Just to let you know a new blog entry has been posted on the Beautiful Oceans blog: 'Everything is interconnected - coral reefs and fire".

This weeks blog entry provides some nice insight into the coral reef food web. Have fun!

I like the food web diagram.

Quick amendment: chemosynthetic ecosystems have been omitted. They don't incorporate photosynthetic components in their food webs.

You are right - chemosynthetic ecosystems around deep sea vents depend on energy originating from a different source. As this food web diagram focuses on coral reef ecosystems visited by divers, photosynthesis has been presented as the only mechanisms used by producers to transform energy into matter.

Cheers - and thank you for your comment!
I love this food web diagram too... probably because I designed it...:-)

Cheers,
Stephan
