Hi everybody!

I am looking into purchasing a dive kit soon as I am going to do my IDC. I was wondering if anybody knows of any good, cheap BCD's? I'm heard that the BCD doesn't have to be to fancy as long as it serves it's purpose (inflate and Deflate).

Cheers!

You should teach in whatever your students will be learning in. All of my student BCs are back inflates, so that's what I wear. I need to purchase some more in the not too distant future.

If you've yet to buy your own gear, it's probably too soon to be thinking about teaching.

+1 , go dive see what people are using , check out other shops etc etc.

This is the only time I can think of that I have been in complete agreement with Walter.

Walter and I haven't seen eye to eye on things in the past but I have to agree with him as well.

Sadly we live in an age where lots of divers with well under 100 dives think it's time to become an instructor. I must have been nuts waiting until my count was up in the thousands.

If you have to ask online what BCD you should get, it may be too soon to be thinking about teaching.

Ummm....Cheap BC for an Instructor? Wonder if Skydiving instructors ever ask about Cheap Parachutes?

I agree with Walter and above maybe too soon for Instructing.

Hate to throw in with the group but how is it possible you are going to do your IDC without ever considering your personal gear? Are you working with a "Course Director" unaffiliated with a shop? It's hard to imagine in any shop setting that you would get to DM without buying at least a BC and perhaps a regulator.

As far as what gear you should teach in when you pass? Go with what makes you comfortable. If you are teaching without any commitment to a particular shops product line you have total discretion. Back inflates have a bit more learning curve for the student but a better attitude under water. (hell, you already know that from the archives)

As has been said before the "cheap stuff" might not be the best path for you. You will need a quality gear source for both you and your students. That can be found on-line.

good luck

Luckily I am sponsored by a parachute manufacturer. :D
