Hey all!

Been trolling around the forums for a few months now, and finally decided I'd post a hello.

I'm a new diver, Open Water certified as of Feburary 2002, with 25 logged dives. I've been loving the cold water diving here in Alaska, and was able to take a trip down to Hawaii for Spring break, which was nothing short of awesome. I love -all- diving, I don't think there's anything about diving I don't like. Get me in the water, and I'm one happy camper.

Anyways, really love reading everyone's posts here on the board, and hopefully will contribute some in the future.

Have fun and be safe!

Brandon.

Welcome to the boards from Rocheater NY!

I love both the warm water and coldwater diving too!
now if I could get my wife to agree.........

Glad you could join us. See you 'round the boards!

Welcome to a grand place to spend your SI.

I think it's amazing what we can see in what some people call cold water (according to some around here that's anything below 70F).

 Welcome Fairbanksdiver from the Netherlands

Sounds freezing cold to me, Alaska. Do you have underwater life over there (besides divers)?

Tavi 'Rockeater' :jester: : Do you dive the great lakes (darn, what was its name?) nearby Rochester? I once visited Rochester for business. They told me the lake was poluted with Mercury from Easman Kodak.... :(

Howdy Brandon, glad u decided to join the rest of us Scuba Junkies. I have been giving serious thought to a Hawaiian vacation. What Island were you on and how was the diving??:)

I was on Maui, around the Lahaina area. I thought the diving was great, lots of stuff to see, lots of places to visit. I ended up spending 8 days diving, and had a blast. Crowded boat diving, but if that doesn't bother you, then it's fine. If you want to break away from the crowds, do some shore diving, a lot of times it's just as good, and it's nearly free.

Beware of the "moron diver" on the boats in Hawaii. Lots of people on vacation settle into the mentality that the diving is so easy they don't need to be concerned about it. If you hop on a boat, your best bet is to stay alert, I saw a lot of really stupid stuff while I was diving.

Glad to have you aboard. I hope you enjoy the board as much as we all do.
