since I work for them but I was on the first Cayman Islands cruise and it was absolutely awesome. We did all three islands. Each was fantastic in their own way. We did dive Little Cayman including Bloody Bay Wall and Jacksons Wall. On Cayman Brac we did a dawn dive on the Tibbetts as well as two morning dives and also did some really fun "live" diving in places where there are no moorings. We spent two days diving each island. The boat looks better than it has in a long, long time and the crew was the best I've seen. You wouldn't have to twist my arm to go back.

Sure looking forward to hearing more trip reports about the Rorqual in the Caymans, particularly how often she can make the crossing.

That's what's always kept liveaboard diving in the Caymans off my "list". I figure if the boat can't make the crossing and only dives Grand Cayman for a week, it's too expensive to justify since I can stay at a resort and do day charters for cheaper.

The SWATH design of the Rorqual brings a whole new guest to the party, so time will tell. :D

Stupid question time. Is "live diving" the same as drift diving? I'm not clear on exactly what you mean.

Thanks.

No, live diving means that the boat comes to pick you up, you don't go to the boat. The boat isn't anchored to a spot and instead is 'live' (engines on).

Drift diving is often done as live diving, but you can live dive without drifting too.

We're booked for July and can't wait. This will be our 3rd Nekton trip including one on the Cachalot. All of our diveing with them has been fantastic. Belize, Cay Sal/Cay Lobos. and Southern Bahamas including Hogsty Reef. I'm sure that they'll do the Caymens right. The live dive sounds fun hope to participate. we did a live drift dive with them at Elbow Key. it was great!!

My friend and I are taking a chance on this trip (without hearing a trip report). We'll be on the last trip out before they go into dry dock -- Oct 21-28th. Couldn't pass up the $300 discount for booking early.

Just booked the last week in July - second trip on a Nekton boat - couldn't pass up the $300 discount and they have reduced the Nitrox charge as well. We will see what we will see.
