We're headed back to Negril, Jamaica the first part of Dec 7-15th for fun and lots of diving ?

Looking forward to being back......

Can you give more details on where you will be staying, and who you will be diving with? We will be heading back there in a year or so, and have stayed at Couples Negril previously, used the in-house dive op the first time, and then dove with Sundivers the second time. We are looking at staying closer into town for our next trip, as opposed to one of the resorts out on Seven Mile.

Also, a trip report on reef conditions and fish populations would be very welcome.

Thanks, and have a great time!

Wife and I will be at Couples Negril in February. Islandheart, please post a trip report. I'd like to hear about it.

islandheart, thanks for the pm, but i was just joking with docc, we have been to negril a few times..
where will you be staying in dec ???

I was just there, at Beaches Negril. After the visibility cleared up in the aftermath of Tomas, things were pretty good. We saw an octopus and a nurse shark caught in a lobster cage; we took the liberty of releasing both, and the oct didn't even ink us.

The currents were a bit unusually strong in places, and that carried a bit of an air-time penalty for me. But all-in-all, it was nice. It's not in the Little Caymen or Bonaire league, but for a family vacation with a bit of "side bar" diving it wasn't bad.

Heading back to Negril end Dec - start Jan. Was there during the same timeframe last year. It was our second "diving" vacation, first having been in Turks and Caicos. Diving isn't as great, although we saw huge nurse sharks and dolphins, but we got suckered into returning by my folks and Sandals returning customer deals (75% off with military discount).

Shouldn't complain when the diving is included, but next trip will definitely be somewhere with better diving ( and yoga if my wife has her way).

Make sure to get away from your resort for eats. Here are my favorites, in order:

1. Koyaba
1A. LTU
2. Sweet Spice
3. Jucy J
4. Chicken Lavish
5. Cosmo
6. Cool Spot

Koyaba and LTU are my favorites. For something like $15US, you can get enough lobster to fill you to the brim (provided they are in season).

Yep. I'd also ask about the guy who sells Conch soup off the back of his bicycle. I hear that he's got a big soup pot and a propane tank affixed to his bike. He's well known to have the best Conch around.

I search for him every time I go, but yet have to cross paths. Seems that I always manage to "just miss" him.:depressed:

Just ask some of the locals about him.

Leave in 8more days, spoke to the dive shop and they said vis is good and excellent temps 85 days and mid 70s at night.....

I'll write a report when I get back after the 15th......
