My satellite receiver is in for some upgrading, but it won't be ready before my next trip. I can rent one from my sat service for big bucks. They get enough of my money as it is. Anyone have any experience with renting one of these things? Recommendations?

Thanks,
Cap'n Ed

I rented an iridium phone last year for Palau. It was $75.00 per week and $1.50 a minute. I just rented a globalstar phone for Saba this year and it was $32.00 per week and $1.50 per minute. Last year I went through the satphonestore.com and had a great experience. This year I went through Atlantic Radio Telephone, Inc. (atlanticrt.com). Don't forget to get the pelican case!

Saw someone recently with them for $65/month, wish I could rember where.

Rented a phone through the sateliitephone.com folks. Good price and it's on the way.

Nice boat BTW. Iffin ya need a capt or DM

I've always gotten mine through www.roadpost.com. They have multiple different plans but I usually use the package for a nice Iridium phone where incoming calls are free and you pay something like $2.00 per minute for outgoing calls. As I use it just to be reachable by family in case of emergency and to touch base once in awhile, it has worked great for me. The cost is something around $75-100 per week. They send it to you and pick it up DHL when you get back. The package comes with an extra battery, the proper converters for the country you're visiting, and business cards with your satellite phone number on them for family and friends. In my mind, I just roll the cost into the vacation.

Just my 2 cents.
