I just don't log dives
I have been using an Olympus SP-550. I have finally decided to spend the money and get a SLR. From what research I have done I think I have a good setup ordered. This is my setup.

Rebel T1i
Canon EOS EF-S 17-85mm USM IS Lens
6871.50 Ikelite Housing
5503.90 Ikelite Port
3944.51 Iklite Strobe Kit
+4 Diopter

Everything but the lens is in. I hope to get to use it for the first time this weekend. Since this camera doesn't have a under water preset mode I was looking for some suggestions on where to start with the settings.

Thanks for any help you give.

Since you will be shooting fairly wide angle stuff I would start with F16 and 1/160 second in manual. Set your strobe up for full power, look at the histogram then adjust either your strobe or your f stop (smaller f stops, bigger numbers, more DOF, larger f stops, smaller numbers, less DOF) until you get what you are looking for. I am not sure that you will need the plus 4 diopter for this lens, but if it is too soft in the corners, then try it.

I mention some suggested initial settings for macro and wide angle on this page.. I'm sure others will chime in also

What a small internet it is. I have been searching around for a few weeks to find good underwater information. I had found your website about a week ago. I have been going threw it page by page. I think I am about half way done. It has been the best, most easy to understand information I have found. I was going to send you a thank you once I finished it. Your site is a great service for people like me. If you ever make it over to Florida shoot me an email. I owe you atlest a dive trip.

Thanks Again.
Robert
