We booked our trip about 15 months in advance. Here recently our travel agent contacted us...Buddy dive informed her that the building that we requested will be in the process of being renovated. They apologized for the inconvenience and said that the did not know at the time we booked that renovations would be happening to these buildings.

We were to stay in one of the 3 bedroom apartments.

They offered a couple of different options but I don't know which to take...

1.) We could stay in one of two (other) 3 bedroom apartments. The renovations on these buildings would have been completed by the time we get there.

2.) They offered 3 x 1 bedroom apartments, all newly renovated with ocean views.

I was told that the newer side of the resort is the best. This is where I get unsure because I know that the 1 bedroom apartments are on the older side of the resort.

Anyone with some experience with Buddy Dive would like to chime in here?

I like building 4 on the L hand side facing the ocean. All 1 BR apartments. Pool and the bar right out front...

I would stay in the newer side of the resort. They stuck in a 2br that had seen much better days (old side right next to the derelict sub). Never again would I let them do that to me.

The newer side of the resort does have 1br units on the first floor of all the buildings. We stayed in those back in '05 and really liked them. Nice thing about the 1br is that you can turn the Ac on and cool the whole unit.

I don't see how you can go wrong with either choice really since you say that all your new choices involve rooms that will be newly renovated. I'm not sure how the three bedrooms are arranged. You may only have two bathrooms for three bedrooms. If you go with the three 1 bedroom units, you would get a little more privacy and not have to share a bathroom possibly but you would also lose the group dynamics if all of you really wanted to stay together.

I also don't know if you would still only get the one vehicle (like you would in a 3 bedroom unit) or if you switched to the three 1 bedroom units would you get another vehicle.

Just some things to think about.

All 3 bedroom unit have a bathroom for each bedroom...I am not sure if your travel agent is giving you the correct information. Buddy's does not reserve specific buildings or rooms on request. They assign the unit you are getting when you arrive.
You could have made arrangements through a dive shop or did it yourself without a travel agent, for the same price or less than what the agent did for you.
Using a travel agent and getting advise from them especially if they never been to the resort or even dive is not the most efficient way of doing this.
Yes you get a van when getting a 3 bedroom unit.If you wish to get 2 pickup trucks you can arrange that also for a minimal fee.
