I shopping around for an inflatable mercury heavy duty 430 or 340 and I just
had a conversation with a Zodiac distributor here in montreal and he told me to
avoid mercury inflatable boat ... he also fix inflatable boat for all brand and he said
that his biggest client is mercury boats...

I am sure there are members here on the board who owns mercury 430 or 340 ...any
comments would be very appreciated.

thank you

Maybe the Zodiac guy works on so many of the Mercs because they are more popular than the Zodiacs, or more affordable.

Besides what is there to work on with a RIB ..other than leaks???

The Merc outboard is a workhorse ... there are so many Mercs out there the sheer numbers would suggest he services more of them than any other.
I think he is steering you from a Quicksilver/Merc to a Zodiac-eh?

This might be a little out there but I've been playing guitar forever ...when I was looking for my first guitar everyone told me I should buy a Gibson solid body electric. Gibsons are the guitar equivalent to Zodiac boats as far as RIB's are concerned. I was looking for a sound and that sound was a Fender Telecaster (guitars equiv to Quicksilver/Mercury). I've owned dozens of Gibsons, Fenders, Custom Made Electrics and to this day I still go to my Telecasters ... It's a preferencs thing. Gibsons are bad ***** guitars but to me they sound like mud no matter who is playing one. Fenders have a distinctive tone and cuts through the clutter like a knife... very unique yet very inexpensive.

Point is go with your first instinct ... buy the Merc RIB ...it's what you want not what someone else wants you to buy. There's a reason why you are interested in the Merc 430, 340 , 380 ...etc... stick with it and don't let someone talk you out of your choice...in particular a salesmen for another brand.

A quick search on prices .. seems Zodiacs are twice as much as the Merc HD .... theres your reason for the Zodiac guy trying to make a pitch for his product-eh?

I wanted to check the Achilles but there is no distributor here ...closest dist.
is in Windsor ontario... 9.5 hours drive ... unless Achilles web site is not updated.
