Need recommendations for a short vacation...

My wife and I would like to get away for an inexpensive long weekend (4-5 days). We live in Chicago, and will be going in mid-May. Here are my wishes:

1) If Southwest flies there, that would be great.
2) My wife is a non-diver, so a place where I can get a few dives in and she will have something to do.
3) I only have a 5/7 wetsuit, so either a good temp for that, or for no suit.
4) Somewhere where I should be able to find a buddy for a day.

Catalina Island California. While you are diving, your wife will have a great time shopping. Southwest files non-stop to Burbank, Ontario or LAX

southwest flight to ft. lauderdale. rent a car and drive to the keys (largo, marathon or key west are my suggestions). key west would provide the most non-diving options
