Getting married end of April of 07 and would like to find a destination that will offer lots of shark encounters and be less than $4000 for both. Would love to go to Tahiti but won't do that until I can stay 2 weeks and not be on any budget. Would also like to go with Jim Abernathy, as that would be the ultimate shark adventure but all his charters are full during this period. Also want warm clear water. This may be a tall order but I am thinking someone on the board will have some sugestions. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.

San Sal is also home port to a relatively abundant population of Hammerhead Sharks. Most prevalent are the Scalloped, Sphyrna lewini, which grow to a maximum of eight to nine feet. The same species is known to school in large aggregations (often numbering from 100 to 500) in the Eastern Pacific. Similar to their Pacific Ocean kin, the Scalloped Hammerheads of San Sal do occasionally school in groups of 8 to 30. They can be found along the edge of the reef's drop-off at depths between 70 and 150 feet, particularly from winter to early spring. San Sal is still the only place on record in the Atlantic or Caribbean to feature this unique phenomenon. During a week's stay, it is considered rare for guests not to see a few of these T-headed rogues passing by. Presently, the most consistent sightings occur from the tip of Sandy Point to Telephone Pole/Turtle Alley.

scuba dave,

If you can find $1,200 more bucks you could have the ultimate shark diving honeymoon experience of all time!

Beqa Lagoon Fiji.....

I went this past May and it was mind blowing.

I did a trip report on it on scubaboard, you might want to give it a read

I went with these guys below who I'd highly recommend and I will be returning with in the future...

they have 3 trips in 2007 in May...

That would be the best honeymoon ever, I think.

Beqa (pronounced bennga) is a top spot, beautiful and lots of sharks.

The Tampa Bay Aquarium! :rofl3: Actually you CAN dive there with Sharks...

Do a google search. I did, and got he usual million hits, but the first page listed a ton of dives from everything to great white off SanDiago to Bulls in Africa.

You did not really say WHAT you want other than sharks? You also did not bother to say what type of sharks, if you want shark feedings, in a cage, outta a cage, or even where you live??

Maybe better questions with more information would yeild better answers? ;)

I second the Stuart Coves operation, top notch crew and sites. There are several places to stay but stay away from paradise island resorts, Atlantis is way too expensive for what you get.

Palau, Blue Corner?

Now, is this YOUR idea or both of you?

Eh, is this a method to get rid of your spouse for insurance purpose, or is it for the sight seeing aspect?
