Hi all,

I recently purchased a SOLA photo 800 together with a D-ring kit.
Being new to UW photography, i asked the lady at the store if I would require any other accessories, and she said no.

Btw, my intention was to mount the SOLA photo 800 on the hotshoe of my Recsea S100 housing. I told her specifically so.

So, when I collected my sola photo 800 + D-ring kit yesterday, I asked the sales person to do a demonstration on how to mount the focus light onto my housing, and he did not know how. I didnt pursue the matter as I thought I could go home and find some pictures on the internet and figure it out myself.

If anyone here could kindly advise me if my set up is missing something in order for me to properly attach it to my housing's hotshoe? Any sample pictures would be greatly appreciated as well!

I assume you want to mount the 1" ball kit (L&M calls it a 'photo mount')

First, look at this picture. L&M changed the mount system in 2012.
The D-ring / photo mount kits are designed for the early type OR the later type, not both.

The D-ring gets placed in the groove in the mount, then slide the mount into the light. (downward in this photo).

The one on the right is easier to explain. The d-ring kit is held in place by the hex head bolt that is clearly visible. Slide the mount in all the way, then insert the bolt.

The one on the left has a set-screw in the smaller hole, not really visible in this photo. Just slide the mount in all the way, drop the set-screw in and screw it down.

Then the 'photo mount' ball goes in the large hole in the d-ring kit. There is an anti-rotation pin on the end of the ball mount; that pin goes in the small hole in the mount next to the d-ring, then insert the fixing bolt and tighten it.
