Looking for a smaller shallow Cenote to use for a Model Photoshoot. Something that possibly has some light openings at the top and that is no more than 3-4ft deep.

This is not for DIVING, just for a photo session. Anyone know the area well enough to make a reccomendation?

You might try Gran Cenote. As you walk down the stairs, the area to the right is fairly shallow, and a small arched area behind it. Here's a view through the arch (I took the photo laying down on the platform):

This was taken in mid-afternoon, that section probably gets more light in the morning.

Here's the left side of Gran:

There's others, such as Taj Mahal and Dos Ojos where you could shoot the model on the platform with the cenote in the background, but you'll be dealing with lots of divers in the background.

This is Taj Mahal:

And the East Eye of Dos Ojos:

Maybe the West Eye might have some spots. It's maintly used by snorklers.

Ideally im trying to find one that has a HOLE of lighting coming in from the top, something simple to get in and out of as well since we will have camera equipment etc?

You might want to talk to Len Bucko. He does alot of work with photo and film locations in the area. Depending on how big of a production your shoot is, you may not be able to just walk in with your euqipment and people and start shooting. www.lenbuckophoto.com/ps_meet_len.htm

you might try calimba.. it's recently been 'improved' by the land owner, giving an opening above the water.

see here for a view looking towards the water, and here for a 360° panoramic at the edge of the water

Thanks for the info gang! I emailed Len and we shall see what happens.

ThanksCadmann...that could possibly work!

The shoot is a small one. 1hr, 4 people.
