Okay Loonies I need your help. I'm looking for some THICK fleece pants. My drysuit undies were/are not cutting it in the 40's Deg. F bottoms that I've been known to enter into. So, instead of dropping another $250.00 on undies, I thought I could just layer. (I'll have to do a weight check again).

I've got plenty of layering options for the upper's but I'm looking for a good THICK pair of Fleece bottoms. I currently have the micro layer polypro bottoms. They don't add too much warmth.

Has anyone seen these at either REI, Bass Pro Shop, etc?

I've seen them on the webpage but wanted to actually see a pair in the store before I buy so I know what I'm getting. This is the mistake that I made when ordering the Polypro's earlier in the year and I though I ordered the thick ones but the micro once arrived.

Thanks,
Jeremy

REI has every piece of fleece know to man. You can get a pair of 200 or 300 weight for short $$$. It all depends on the features. The most basic ones are like sweat pants and won't set you back much. For dry suit purposes, they all perform the same (assuming like for like fabrics).

That said, fleece adds a lot of bouyancy. I've used 200 weight pants and did not like it at all. I would strongly recomend that you consider Polartec Power Stretch. It's much more light weight but still adds considerable warmth. I'm from Boston and frequently dive in 35-40 temps. I use power stretch tops and bottoms (over Under Armour t-shirt) with a bare CT200 and I'm very comfortable. I'm also known to get cold before others.

BTW, last weekend I did 2 dives in 49 degree water with just the Power Stretch under my compressed neoprene suit and it was fine.

Thanks for the info on the Fleece and added bouyancy. I think I'm just going to buy a "Body Sock" style 2 from Carol Davis Sportswear http://www.cdsportswear.com
They are (284 gr. Square Meter) in PolarTec Powerstretch. Although she is not taking orders for 2 weeks while she relocates to another state.

Jeremy,
I've been thinking about ordering the same from CD. Would love to hear your comments after you've had a few dives on it.

You know.

If you were to take all of this out of context, and "Cross Referance" it to the other thread going on here.

It just may be one of those things that make you go HHHmmmmm?

Not that there is anything wrong with that.....

Hey, Steger.
I talked to your significant other and unless you can't handle it with all this talk of, "284 gr. Square Meter" stuff, I should have the boat for anywhere on Lanier Sunday Morning.
