I am new to scuba diving. We live in MN but I recently obtained my PADI OW Certification while in Playa Del Carmen MX using rented gear.

To make diving as enjoyable as possible I would like to start to invest in my own gear, including a women's BCD.

I am 5' 9" tall, 175 lbs, and I have a rather large chest (44 DD) so finding one that fits which is a women's BCD may be a problem for me (in the men's BCD I rented in order to have it fit my chest I had to use a XL).

I am looking for recommendations based on other's experience as to what women's BCD may be a good choice for me and my body type. I found a good deal on the women's Aeris Contour which I believe is similar to the Oceanic Hera. I have an Aeris Recon mask already which I bought before my certification that I love so my impression is that they are a good company that makes quality scuba equipment.

I am interested in everyone's thoughts, opinions, and recommendations in relation to this.

Thanks!

As a woman who does not have a female specific BCD (Aeris Atmos) I can tell you:

1) Do your research as to which BCDs give you the features you want. Do you want back inflate? Jacket? Hybrid? How much lift?
2) Go out & try on various BCs with the exposure protection you will be using. If you're going to be using it in both cold & warm water, make sure it will be comfortable in ALL instances.

Brand names really don't mean much. My regs are a different brand than my mask than my fins, than my bcd than my... you get what I mean. ;)

Bonne chance,
