Need dive info on diving southern BELIZE

HI I am staying with friends in early august at Cuxlin Ha Village Punta Gorda Toledo Belize.I Want to do some dives but do not want to take a 40 mile boat ride to the reef are there any places to dive that are close by to dive . Also need info on local dive shop and boat. I do not know much about BELIZE any info would help thanks. GUY

I've never heard of any diving down that way. I've been to PG and crossed over to Puerto Barrios, Guatemala by boat. Drove my boat back to PG and up to Dangriga. It was pretty choppy the day I did the trip but the water near PG looked pretty much like most of the inshore water here. You might get a really calm day and get 30 feet of vis somewhere.
Sapadillo Caye is the nearest reef to there I believe. I've been there and it's nice.

A guy I work with is born and raised there. I'll ask him tomorrow and get back to you.
