Need clarification on WP-DC12 and Powershot A590

I just ordered a Canon WP-DC12 housing and the Powershot A590 u/w housing. On newegg it says the WP-DC12 is for the A570/A590 so I figured it would work. I've since been looking at more information and it doesn't seem like the WP-DC12 is, in fact, compatible with the A590.

Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks!

After some further investigation, it appears Canon had intended this to work but changed the camera case and it will not work. Bummer. Guess I have to do some re-ordering (with less than a week before my next dive trip)

Yeah its a shame. I talked to the people at Backscatter : Underwater Camera, Underwater Video Housing, Underwater Photography, Waterproof Camera and said the A590 WAS supposed to fit, but it doesn't. Now they got a surplus of it and don't know what to do with it.

It does not fit, I mentioned that in several posts, I know this because I tried it, it does not fit. Your only choice is to wait for an Ikelite or send the 590 back and get the 570IS which is a better camera for underwater anyways.

I just got an Ikelite for one of my 570IS cameras, I am not really all that impressed with the Ike right out of the box, workmanship is just not crisp.

I agree, it stinks. I ordered an A570 and will return the A590. I'll end up paying as much for the 570 as I would have for the 590 but at least it will fit. I guess I should have done a little more research before I made my purchase. Oh well, it's not like it will affect my bottom time and that's what really matters ;-)

What external flash did you use?

Also, how is the macro mode uw on the 570?
Can the internal flash be used or is it shadowed by the housing?
