I'm taking an AOW course this June here in SOCAL, and its $75 for the course, roughly $25 for materials... But that doesn't include the 8 ocean dives...

Yikes, good luck with this. If you find something please do share!!!

Do you expect to get any training, or are you just looking for a c-card?

Cheap scuba instruction is generally not a good investment ... like most things, you get what you pay for ...

Considering how basic my AOW course was 10 years ago.... I'd pay $10 for just the C-CARD. :)

Come to think of it, I don't really remember what I paid. I think it was around that much as the costs of the dives were already included since I was at an AI resort.

Because price varies geographically, and locally from one shop to another, Your should decide where you want to do your AOW and price it there. The "Just Add Water Scuba Center in Willoughby, OH (near Cleveland), has on its a web an AOW course advertised for $150 including materials.

There could be a market in counterfeit C-Cards :eyebrow:

Just my opinion but....an AOW C card doesnt mean a whole hell of a lot. I am only OW but have been diving with lots of AOW divers as well as some DM's and instructors that I can dive circles around. I have actually been along on dives where others are getting their AOW and ended up helping them out and/or getting them out of ticklish situations.

Not saying that I am a super duper diver, just saying that that card seems to mean very little in many cases.

Other than the underwater nav course I really feel that spending money on AOW would be a waste of cash for me. That said, I will probably do it at some point just to make sure I dont have problems doing some dives in some areas at some point.
