Hi I am new here so please dont bite if this is in the wrong thread

I called an online scuba shop to ask about a camera. I enquired about a sealife camera and was told it was the business. Call went something like this

I am going to belize and need a camera as i left my olympus in the uk. will this camera take good pics at 40m?
Yes was the reply

Will this camera take very close up pics?
yes was the reply

will it eat the batteries?
no was the reply

So I purchase this camera and i have attached a pic at around 20 meters. see what you think
It does NOT take good macro shots as it will not focus, again pic attached and it takes around 15-20 shots before battery is gone!:depressed:
Emailed the online scuba shop and they said "send it back, we will refund 75% of your money IN VOUCHERS because it has been used in the water. My answer.... well of course it has, I had to use it to find out it didnt work very well.

Emails back and forth and once I threathened legal action I have had no more contact.

emails can be supplied if needed but need advice. I am from the UK but currently in phoenix and this is an American company that I am dealing with.
They have shot themselves in the foot because I was prepared to spend a lot of dollars on a really good camera as I really enjoy my underwater, especially macro shots and this camera really does not live up to this. I am really dissapointed because I actually spoke to their customer services and they recommended this camera. Obviously for me, being from the UK this is the trip of a lifetime because I have travelled from the UK to America and then to Belize and on to Cozumel which has cost thousands of dollars and the pics I took and the memories have been ruined because of this camera.

constructive advice would be appreciated
Thankyou

I can't help you with your question, but Underwater Photography and The SeaLife Station may help.

15-20 shots is ridiculously low. My camera takes around 200 shots with flash before the battery runs out, and most consider that in the low range. I know Sealife makes great products, at least with the 'DC' series. They also have excellent customer service, so contact Sealife directly through e-mail and phone.

Also, post a full review of the dive shop in http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/whine-cheeze/

I will wait until I get back to Phoenix on wednesday and call them from there. If no joy I will name and shame.
I will also contact sealife as well
Thanks for the advice

Well i got back and called the company- they really need to improve their customer services.
they just kept putting me on hold all the time- asked to speak to a director put through to the same customer services line that no-one answers!

Anyway spoke to sealife who within 2 minutes of starting the call have agreed to replace the camera
Well done sealife

SCUBA.COM IS THE NAME OF THE COMPANY AND THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEIR NOT SO CUSTOMER SERVICES!
