El Presedente is the only 5 star resort on the island, it's really nice but you'll pay for it.
The Occicental Grand is a very nice all inclusive, but it's really far south on the island and if the girls want to go shopping in town it will cost about $17 one way for the cab ride.
La Ceiba is a nice clean hotel, caters mostly to divers, most rooms are newly renovated, ALL the rooms are ocean view, the food is good, it has a real nice beach with 2 pools and spa, vollyball courts, a dive shop, and one of the best snorkel beaches on the island. The wait staff will bring you drinks and food right to you on the beach.
Island Photo and Video are also on the grounds, so if you do u/w photography or want to give it a try, Holly rents cameras and has full photography services.
It is also only about 2.5 miles or closer to town, (we've actually walked to town from there), so the cab fare is cheap and it's right by the international pier where the cruise ships come in, so there's always good people watching.
as you can tell, it's our usual haunt.

hope this helps, best wishes,
the shark

If you stay at Presidente, you should join the intercontinental hotels ambassadors club. Costs $100 per year but you get a 1 free night voucher, and other benefits such as guaranteed room upgrade and so forth. So you get a pretty fast ROI!
