Since you're a Brit, go for an Apeks, they're made in the UK and their performance and reliability is second to none.

Hello Narcosis….Welcome to Scuba Board,

Help us to help you by providing the following information:
What type of diving will you be doing:
Deep/shallow
Warm/cold/ice
Just local or worldwide travel?
Max price willing to spend.
Will you service your own gear or take it in for service?
What does your local dive shop service?
Is a warranty important?
Would you consider used?

Cheers,

Couv

what brand do you have now that's giving you trouble??..

Cheers,

I think you stated it had just been serviced, If so, I would take it back, tell them it has freeflow issues, and ask them to double check their work, it is possible they missed something, would be a good starting point,

I don't know how our post got mixed up to where I am part of the quote in the preceding post....but that ain't me

Narcosis,

Well, if a full manufactures warranty is not a concern (and it shouldn't be) then I would go with a mail order. For less than 250lbs ($412 US) you can get:
A ScubaPro MK17 w/G250 from Leisure Pro http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/SCPM17G2.html?Search=op%3ddtSearch%26Term%3dmk17%26SearchFlag%3dall%26AdvSrchSortField%3dRelevance%26DescSort%3d0%26Description%3don%26Hit%3d1 plus about $55 shipping

Or

The Oceanic Delta 4 from Dive Sports http://www.divesports.com/Oceanic-Delta-4-DVT-Regulator-p/oc-40-7360-23.htm
Contact PhilEllis here on Scuba Board, he owns the joint and for being a Scuba Board member, will give you a discount.

I'm sure there are mail order places on your side of the pond too, but for the budget you laid out, it should be pretty simple. Get a brand name regulator with an environmentally sealed fist stage and an adjustable second stage and you should be set, especially if your LDS will service what ever you tell them too.

Good luck,

Couv

thanks so much for your help i will have a shop aroung online ad see what i can find.

Ya they have only just been serviced 3 months ago and i have had this prob with them befor after a service, plus not really brough any dive gear in a while so i think its time to get another set.

A new regulator is this is not likely to fix your problems in the long run. There is absolutely no reason that 99% of all regs can not be repaired and made to work like new. Granted there is the ocassional one that has a major flaw but they are rare. Sooner or later you are going to need the new reg serviced and if you use the same repair shop it's likely you will get the same results. Instead of a new reg what you most likely need is a new repair shop.

I will be getting my old one repaired and finding a new shop as well, getting a new reg was not the final solution it justy ment that i had a spair set if i needed them.
