Hey, Gnominic !!!!
Welcome to the ScubaBoard! I think you're really going to like it here.
Give Superbugman here a shout, he lives in P-Cola and is a very active dive as well as a budding young photographer.

If you do spearfishing it has to be from a boat - not from the beach. You also have to have a Florida Saltwater Spearfishing License. These, in the past, have been covered by the charter company but be sure to ask before assuming.

I hear the old Pensacola Beach Pier rubble has been uncovered from the last few storms. I haven't confirmed that yet. The Navarre Beach Pier is now opened to divers as its now condemned to surface fisherman.

You can no longer get to Fort Pickens by car, so we've kinda lost that as a shore dive(as well as the Sport tug on the bayside and the Catherine on the beachside of Fort Pickens).

I don't live in Pensacola, I'm actually from Loxley, AL which is pretty much just a small jump across the AL line. I'm close enough to dive Pensacola easily though. I can't dive it this weekend however, I already have plans to dive some of the panhandle springs.

FL Saltwater Fishing liscense covers spearfishing. You can pick it up at WalMart or similar. You have to be a certain distance from the beach, jetty, pier, ect to start taking fish(I believe 300'). I have heard that you can use a knife or 'gig'(polespear w/o band) to take fish within that distance as long as there is no propulsion to it(bands, pneumatics, ect). Dunno the validity of that claim, I heard it from one of the guys at ScubaTech, but have heard other reports both supporting and contradicting it...
