Is this the original version with actual VHF radio capability to talk to any boat that is monitoring channels 16 or 68? Or is it the new version with no VHF communication capability?

Reducing to 125!

Enhanced functionality and performance
  • Faster GPS Acquisition: The new model locks onto GPS satellites significantly faster, acquiring a position in just 25-40 seconds compared to one minute for older models.
  • Improved GPS Accuracy: Pinpoint accuracy of less than 1 meter, representing a 60% improvement, even in challenging weather conditions.
  • Extended Battery Life: Significantly longer battery life when transmitting, offering nearly 100 hours of transmit time with full batteries, notes Nautilus LifeLine.
  • Increased Range: Improved range at sea level, reaching up to 5.5 miles (approx 9 km). When communicating with an elevated antenna, the demonstrated range extends up to 54 km (34 miles).
  • AIS and DSC Technology: The nexGen utilizes both AIS and DSC to broadcast distress signals and your precise location to nearby vessels and your own boat, according to Dive Right In Scuba.
Simplified use and maintenance
  • No MMSI and Registration: Unlike older models, the nexGen doesn't require complex MMSI registration or subscriptions, simplifying setup and ongoing use.
  • Compact and Lightweight Design: The new model is less than half the size of the original Nautilus Lifeline radio, making it easier to carry and store.
  • Buoyant Design: The nexGen is positively buoyant and floats in saltwater, preventing loss if accidentally dropped.
  • 5-Year Battery Life: The device utilizes user-replaceable batteries with a 5-year lifespan, reducing maintenance concerns beyond keeping the O-ring clean.
  • Simple Operation: Designed for ease of use, with minimal buttons and straightforward activation for distress signals or position reports.
