It is a combination of OW cert and what could have been a specialty. Many will consider it a ploy, a fluff add-on, or an excuse to charge a little more for skills that should be taught anyway. If done with the right intent and attitude, this could be a very good program, as it not only requires additional instruction and skills in buoyancy, trim, and navigation, but also frames them in light of awareness of the environment--putting divers in a better position to appreciate and document the environment they are in as well as making them aware of the negative impact they can have by contacting live organisms due to poor skills and awareness.

Should this already be taught in basic OW? Absolutely. Is it? Sometimes. If this program turns out some better divers, tunes in some more instructors to the end product of their instruction, or perhaps even attracts more evironment-aware individuals to diving, it will be a good thing.

I think that PADI will actually let you create any course you want.

Example, there are a few shops out there that teach a PADI Golf Ball retrieval certificaiton. Some people will do anything to get another "card".

What do you think of this? Is it serious? Is it a ploy or somehting quite legitimate? It seems to be a combination of certs?
