Both of these were taken in Raja Ampat. The Mystery Thing is something the guide pointed out, but I couldn't see with my eyes, so I used my camera as my eyes. Looking at it now, I have no idea what to look for. I've drawn a blue arrow to what I think may be an eye. Could this be a well-disguised neck crab or maybe I just missed capturing the shot?

I know the White Fish is a bit boring, but I hadn't seen one of these. What do you think these are?

You boosted my confidence. I think the mystery thing is the remains of a frogfish. The fish is a triggerfish, and Picture Fish says it’s a scythe or boomerang trigger.

Use Google Lens with your pics - super easy and works well. As poster above stated this appears to be a Scythe/Boomerang/Lei triggerFish

For the first image, Google Lens returns: “The image shows a skeleton shrimp, likely from the Caprellidae family, clinging to a hydroid colony.”

Thanks! Skeleton shrimp makes sense, but I still can't see it. I've only seen one other skeleton shrimp, ever.

I'll start using Google Lens. Bing (Microsoft) has an image identifier too. I like using my desktop with a large screen for these tasks. The screen is too small for me on a mobile device.
