I am going with scorpionfish but what kind?

Where was the photo taken? (Specifically, what body of water and what general dive area?)

I'd preliminarily guess shortnosed scorpionfish.

Looks like the caribbean or Florida and if so then I'd say spotted scorpionfish.

We saw something that looked like that a couple weeks ago in Jamaica. We were told they were scorpion fish.

They are a venomous creature a step on them or a contact with there torso fin is painful.
