I'm newly certified with just 6 dives under my weight belt. I intend to dive every month or two if I can schedule, warm and temperate/cold water, air and recreational nitrox, and I am pondering the sequence of gear to get and which manufacturers I should acquire.

Forum posters seem to recommend a dive computer as one of the first pieces of gear (after mask, fins, wetsuit). In my limited experience it strikes me that a lot of computer displays are not very readable. The Mares Icon HD and the Atomic Cobalt look crystal clear, bright and big (from online catalog viewing) but they are out of my price range. The images of the Zeagle N2ition 2 show a fairly large display of crisp characters against a sharp white background. The N2ition 2 handles two gas mixes, and seems to have all the basic dive computer features I would want for repetitive, multilevel diving, sometimes at altitude. Have not yet checked LDS for this but online prices are around $409.

Do any members have experience with this computer? Is it as clear and readable as the photos make it appear?

Thanks!

I have the n2ition 3 which I think I pretty similar. Nitrox is easy to use on it and it is very readable underwater. As far as backgrounds I don't think yours will be white, more like grey. As a computer I am very happy with it. The only thing that is a bit weak is the backlight. I can see it in the dark but it definitely isn't a flashlight.

This one can be had for 500$. Try divegearexpress as they seem to be the cheapest on these computers. Btw there seems to be about five manufacturers that all rebrand this computer but apparently they are all the same.

My wife and I bought N2intion computers this summer and got them from our LDS for $195. The display is very clear and readable, the O2 bar graph is a little small and harder to see.
