Not sure....... it could be a 'deep stop' or a 'safety stop'. I have never heard of the term 'bubble stop'.TheMotrCty:Just what exactly IS a "bubble stop"?

yup.........bubble check it sounds likeTheMotrCty:I saw this term used on a graphic dive profile. x axis being time and y axis being depth. When the hypothetical dive started there was a "bubble stop" at three meters on descent. I wasn't sure what that was. So maybe THAT's what was meant, check for bubbles at 10' after entering the water.
SSI never taught me that one!

Warren_L:Bubble stop and bubble check are two different things....
Thanks Warren.Warren_L:Bubble check is a check for bubbles - which is a sign that something is leaking. This is especially important for rebreather divers as there really shouldn't be any bubbles anywhere (at least for CCR, SCR is a different matter).
A bubble stop (microbubble stop) is a deep stop done in your decompression profile to help deal with microbubble formation on your ascent. Some computers that calculate deco for you such as the VR3 will incorporate microbubble stops. Excessive microbubble formation can be an issue as they may pass through the alveoli in the lungs and end up on the arterial side of the system, which of course, is not good. These bubble stops are supposed to help control the formation of microbubbles.
