Hello everyone!

With the harsh NY winter biting my neck every morning and the plans to move to HI on mid-late 06, I wanted to go somewhere diving this April. Now, this will be a very open request. I want to go to a nice place, where the airfare is not expensive, the accommodation is cheap, and I can get my PADI AOW for $350 or less. I've been looking at St. Croix and the FL Keys... any suggestions?

Thanks,
GR

Gr,
My take on it for AOW would be Florida but North a bit in the springs area, reason being the springs dont get blown out for weather so you can get your dives in,I did my and it was a blast,Fly in to Orlando and get a car.
Some choices try Devils Den in Wilston Fl Phone-352-528-3344
Or Blue Grotto just down the road,Or for your deep or Nav dive your instuctor may take you over to Hal Watts 40 Fathoms.
Call The Den folks are nice and they will set you up with a dive instructor, then you can meet at the den do a few dives and then move on to your deep dive at the Blue grotto or 40 Fathoms,
I think you can do it for that price Its been a while since I did my AOW not sure but you better get book that must be around $50.00.
There is motel not the ritz in Wilston near the springs, the Devils den has rental units on site too for more$$
Now think of one up grade if you plan to do lots of dives or to make your dives safer do a Nitrox course as one of your courses for your AOW
And dont forget to tip your instructor, cause most cases you will be on a one and one and this can be real nice!
Then after you get that c-card tool over to Crystal river and do a few dives on the Gulf side=Manatees!
Good luck man,
Dive safe!

Do a google to get the web sites or PM me for them.

"I need more cowbell"

Try Palm Beach diving. Flights are usually cheaper into PB especially from NY. Check out www.oceanquestscuba.com. Sandy is the owner operator of "Sandy's Sunday", a 12 diver Island Hopper, and is a PADI instructor. Hotels/motels on Singer Island are cheap. She can refer you to one as well. By April the water temps will be back up into the mid to high 70's and the cold fronts will be long gone.

WPBDiver and Moneysavr: Thanks much for the suggestions... I will start to look into them right now :)

Lisa: Sometimes we all need more cowbell in our lives... haha

I really have nothing to contribute, but also wanted to say the cowbell is great!
