Some underwater photos placed pretty well, even though, as a general rule, my uw shots usually don't score very well in competitions. I think most of the judges just don't "get" them because I'm the only person who shoots uw. A lot of judges don't even know what they're looking at. 
Now in uw competitions up against "real" uw photogs, my photos do much worse.
Twirling Bluebells (not an uw shot) won Image of the Year in Beginner Class in our year-end competition. I was shocked, and thrilled, when I found out. I missed the year-end awards dinner because I was in Galapagos. I know. Poor me.
I will post some photos from there in the not-too-distant future.
